Last night we welcomed as our speakers Dawn Mackinnon, CEO of Trans-Logic Executive Search Group and Stan Shantz, principal and managing Partner of Meir Ltd. Dawn and Stan headed up a discussion on the merits of operating a business along with some of the challenges they had encountered. We extend our thanks to both speakers for taking the time to come along to our meeting and their participation helped many of us in our quest to move forward with our businesses.

Tanya Riemann of Platypi Designs Inc. attended the Guelph Mercury`s Top 40 under 40 banquet luncheon at the Guelph Youth Music Centre on Thursday June 26th. She was nominated by Annette Molzahn of Orange Door Graphic Design in the spring. Tanya was proud to accept the nomination and was thrilled to hear that she was selected among the applications that came in.

Which Smartphone Will You Pick - Will it be the new Apple IPhone?

I have to laugh at all the hype out there about Smartphones, I am so happy with my Telus pink phone that looks like an IPod, it suits my needs. On the otherhand my husband Dave has been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the new IPhone here in Ontario Canada for so long it has been painful for the poor guy. Dave knows that if he still lived in the UK he would have his pick of many, much better phones and better rate plans than where we live so he moans a bit about that. Ok so we are far behind Europe in that area but I believe you should work with what you have, or work to make changes.

Waterloo Region Has a Wonderful Resource For Small Business Owners During Entrepeneur Week

For the 2nd year running the  Waterloo Region Small Business Centre in Kitchener and the Small Business Community Network Group have partnered for the 2nd annual Small Business Showcase: Bridges to Better Business Event. In 2007 we offered the small business owners a chance not only to purchase a booth and showcase their products and services, but also a chance to connect with other small business owners. For the 2nd year we now offer 100 booths, B2B networking, a different venue, Waterloo Inn, and a Roundtable discussion to follow!

Yes I know, this is the long weekend in Canada, Canada Day in fact, but a sole proprietors work is never done as they say. An excellent opportunity has come my way, an opportunity I must say I worked hard for and did not just arrive in my email as if by magic. As I am now recognized as an expert in some areas of Health & Wellness, Prevention, Early Detection, Awareness, to name a few areas, my clients look to me to offer keynotes and workshops in this area.
