A Remembrance Day to Remember - Dedicated to My Son Colin

My son Colin, who is an amazing Artist, has decided to join the Army - wanted to do so since the age of 16.  I've watched this rather slow governmental process come to fruition - he's just waiting for the phone call at this point ( which we hoped would be after the Grey Cup, since we have great seats for the game).  For those of you that know me, my son, has been one of my greatest joys in life, my legacy to the universe when I leave it - always supportive of all my endeavors and ambitions.

Don’t be Stressed, there’s no POINT!

I don’t know about you… but I haven’t had a full stressful day in years…

Why?

Simple! I don’t worry about things that may or may not happen. I get the deal? Great! I don’t get the deal? Great! Move on! Kinda like dating, no?

I see it this way:

  1. Opportunity comes
  2. Make a choice on it
  3. Win/Lose situation occurs
  4. Smile/frown
  5. Repeat

Why?

Had a thought: I am not negative but everyone who says I’m negative is truly negative. How did I come up with this? We are Talking Mobile!!!

In this upcoming month at the SBCN meeting, we will be discussing mobile apps. Why? Simply put, it is the future and we need to know it! We will spend some time on mobile in general looking at stats, what is an app, what is it good for and a recap of social media that integrates with apps. The easy marketing that comes from all these tools has been given to you through the months and those that took advantage of my time and have followed me online have had a great opportunity to grow.

The tale of what we measure: Bhutan, GDP and the riddle of true progress

Last week I was lucky enough to attend Ignite Waterloo, a lively and well-organized evening conference event which I would describe as TED on speed. Presenters each get five minutes only! Thirteen presenters dazzled us with their stories that evening.  Incidentally I absolutely recommend the Ignite experience - similar events are held all over!

Is The Cloud For You?

LindaOJ here co-founder of the Small Business Community Network and I would love if you could check out my new TELUS Talks Business Blog post. Not being an IT person myself I asked for advice about the cloud and whether I should be looking into how having my own cloud could help me. My thought when it comes to my business in particular is to ask an expert, and lucky for me my husband and business partner Dave Ockwell-Jenner was able to help me with my decision on moivng to the cloud.

Why Did I Get Into Photography

I’ve had a few different forays into photography over the years but I was never satisfied with the results. Started off in art college using black and white film and having to develop my own film. Going into a darkroom to load film into a canister in total darkness and dealing with chemicals, left me in the dark. Loved taken the photos, hated the development stage. Next came slides, better, but having to wait for days to see what you shot meant many rolls of film went undeveloped. It was also costly.
