One of the areas we do extensive consulting on is the area of risk, investment risk tolerance and risk management. The corollary to that is if you ever want to achieve the life you’ve always dreamed of, you’ll have to start taking positive, calculated risks. It is absolutely necessary to take chances to achieve anything great in life, however many are scared to take the initial leap.

Just as children head back into the classroom, exchanging stories of their summer antics, so do we return to networking and our tales of business over the summer months.

Re-Envisioning ABC

Recently, with a fellow mentor, we were in the middle of working with a delightful young business owner who demonstrated serious passion. A rarity for some. She was developing a business and was challenged with prospecting. She did not have a problem of engaging with people. It was more of trying to balance that with the use of social media and electronic mediums.

Just one exercise at once activates all major core muscle groups:

  • transverse muscle – it helps to raise a big weight;
  • rectus abdominis – it helps to jump better, and it is also responsible for the “cubes”;

Clarifying Corporate Structure

A couple of weeks ago, I sat down and had a chat with one of my lawyers. The subject was when and why small business owners and entrepreneurs should contemplate incorporation. I think the complexity of the question can lead many entrepreneurs to not only consider when incorporation makes sense for their venture but to also seek clarity about corporate structure and its components. The size and diversity of corporate structure as it relates their business will vary. I thought this would be a good opportunity to review the basics of corporate structures.

Business Or Busyness

I had an interesting and engaging conversation with a business owner the other day. He was experiencing some challenges with time management and prioritization. As a mentor, I always ask the people I am assisting to take their time and elaborate on the specific issues they find challenging. Part of effective listening involves reading body movements and the choice of words and how they are enunciated. It reflects on emotions and trigger points.
