So we are into the first month of 2012 and after the over indulgence that the Christmas season brought you may be thinking about a detox or a health-kick to start off the New Year. Well….it’s not just you who needs one…your computers and servers need to have a health check too!

Our daily workload is increasingly reliant on IT so it makes sense to make sure that your computers, servers and network are all working correctly and are ready to face the challenges of 2012.

Hello from Spike|Mobile

Hello everyone at the SBCN!

I am very excited to be a part of this group. Those of you whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in person have given me a very warm welcome, and I feel like I am a part of the family.

To tell you briefly about myself, I work for Spike|Mobile, a startup based in Waterloo that specializes in Bulk SMS. Basically text message marketing. I hope to teach you about the many uses it has and also to debunk some myths that go along with it, such as you'll get nothing but spam or be charged $3 every time you get a message.

Social Media; don't be confused by the social media hype, if we look at the words Social and Media,

The Small Business Community Network Works

I was reading an article earlier today and it made me realise just how much the SBCN is doing it right, it being encouraging SMB's to network and how to do it successfully. As one of the co-founders of the SBCN I am often seen out and about in my local community meeting SMB's who are interested in finding out networking opportunities that will help them. TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2011 - When the thermostat drops and the snow clouds roll in, more than one third of Ontarians (35%) admit they avoid driving in Canada's winter wonderlands, according to the TD Insurance Winter Driving Poll and one quarter (24%) say they feel anxious, scared or even panicked when driving during winter.

Receiving Email Notications From Groups on Facebook

Did you know you can chose which emails you want to receive from Groups you are a Member of on Facebook.

Just take a look in the right hand colrner of the Group Page and look for the word "Notifcations",

click on the arrow pointing down and chose "Settings"

Then you can tick or un-tick the box depending on whether you want email notifications or not.

I know I used to get very confused about this until I worked it out. I personally only want to receive emails from certain groups and not all.
