I mentored a group of small business owners monthly last year. The focus was working through the evolution and development of their own business plans. The one area that seemed the most challenging was the marketing plan. While daunting, there's no use in denying it. Marketing is a critical component of the success of a small business.

The challenge is that many small business owners have no idea what it takes to make marketing work for them. They are experts in their business, but they simply don’t have the time to become experts in the ever-changing world of online marketing.

It is a pause for reflection on how much money you were going to spend (if you had a budget) and realizing how much you did spend. Better Buying Strategies

The proverbial question people always ask of financial advisor is: “Should I save up for a large purchase or finance it?” More often then not, this question is a want versus need issue. So, in most cases, the answer is simple. If you “need it” and don’t have the capital, it may be all right to finance it. If it is a “want it”, save for it and make sure it is not taking the place of acquiring a need.

Are you a life-long learner? Of course, we’d all like to answer yes, but is learning a passion, or a chore? Working with many small businesses over the years, it seems clear there is a correlation between constant learning, and success.
