I mentored a group of small business owners monthly last year. The focus was working through the evolution and development of their own business plans. The one area that seemed the most challenging was the marketing plan. While daunting, there's no use in denying it. Marketing is a critical component of the success of a small business.
The challenge is that many small business owners have no idea what it takes to make marketing work for them. They are experts in their business, but they simply don’t have the time to become experts in the ever-changing world of online marketing.

Here we are at a time of year when some people are in post-Christmas doldrums not that the spending season is done and credit card statements are rolling in. It is a pause for reflection on how much money you were going to spend (if you had a budget) and realizing how much you did spend. It further extends to some of us looking at how much money we are spending in general.

He’d heard rave reviews from his friends with iPhones about Prisma, a new iOS app for image editing. So when he heard Prisma would soon be released for Android, he logged in to the Google Play Store to see if it was there yet.

If you are listening to your customers complaints you are certainly going to continue to do well in business.
Evidently at least 47% of customers prefer to walk away and not complain to the business concerned. How many dollars, and for some businesses it could be billions, is lost because lack of customer retention?

Renovation projects can be expensive, and there are definitely ways to work with a budget, but there are certain costs that can't be avoided. One of these unavoidable costs is the charge for the ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) permit.

The proverbial question people always ask of financial advisor is: “Should I save up for a large purchase or finance it?” More often then not, this question is a want versus need issue. So, in most cases, the answer is simple. If you “need it” and don’t have the capital, it may be all right to finance it. If it is a “want it”, save for it and make sure it is not taking the place of acquiring a need.

Are you a life-long learner? Of course, we’d all like to answer yes, but is learning a passion, or a chore? Working with many small businesses over the years, it seems clear there is a correlation between constant learning, and success.
